BEHIND THE DIRT, A PHOTO SHOOT ADVENTURE.

It had been way too long since the Wicked team had traveled because of the pandemic and now the time had finally come! So we packed our bags and headed to sunny Cape Town, South Africa to hang out with some of the fam there, meet a bunch of amazing new friends and have some unforgettable adventures doing a photo shoot with some of the most talented dirt bike riders in Cape Town

We arrived to an iconic summer in Cape Town and checked into our funky green home amongst the explosion of color that is the many vibrantly painted houses in the area of Bo-Kaap, just on the edge of the City center. We were so stoked and the colors totally matched our vibe! Unfortunately, the funky green house had no air-conditioning, so we had some really hot days cooking up inside there, whilst editing all the rad footage we got from our adventurous days shooting the Wicked dirt bike gear at the local mx track and other amazing areas. 

The Wicked team was made up of Wicked founder and visionary, Sofia, and the two hooligans, Nils & Zac who would shoot and capture the adventure. Wicked Family is a small company, but growing fast thanks to all that support us! Our Family is built on collaborations all over the world. Wicked Family was founded in Sweden but it´s all our collaborators, contributors and supporters around the world that make the brand into what we are – “We are all Wicked Family”

We then met up with the fam, Matt Van Galen, one of the most skilled riders with one of the most wicked attitudes, and the infamous Wicked contributor, Ruben Lowe, who has the sexiest photo/video eye for all things motocross. And boy were we stoked to have them onboard. Matt allowed us to shoot at his amazing family farm and Ruben helped us capture such awesome footage of the riders at all the incredible locations. They were both kinda the glue, with the most positive, fun and cheeky attitudes, real Wicked Family legends.

We were introduced to a gang of some of the most talented and fun-loving riders we had ever met… Puck Klaasen, Roxy Baynes, Justin Tyler, Waldo de Wet, Cameron Roach, Brett Roberts and Josh de Hutton. Meet them in the video! We also met Waldo de Wett and Roxy Baynes but unfortunately, we didn’t get any motocross interviews of them but will be introducing them more and their awesome MTB styles soon when our NEW MTB range and stories drop!

We spent some of the most awesome times shooting the gang at their local MX track, soaked up the wicked atmosphere of a super fun pit bike race, and even traveled far up the west coast to Matt’s family farm and did some bush riding and then had a fun filled braai (aka BBQ).
